About Avellanas Beach

Avellanas is located 40 km west of the city of Santa Cruz, it is a sandy brown beach of 2 km in length with a rocky coast, particularly in the extreme south.

The sea has a strong swell, suitable for surfing and bathers but with some precautions. The greatest attraction of this beach is fantastic surfing, which promotes the visit of many surfers from all over the world. Known as ‘Little Hawaii’ by the locals.

Playa Avellana is located 10 kilometers south of Tamarindo in the province of Guanacaste, near Playa Junquillal. Avellanas is a relatively isolated and quiet beach with a peaceful environment, north of Playa Negra.
